Steel Casting Services & In-House Capabilities

Steel Casting Services

Sand Casting

Monett’s sand casting operation uses a no-bake furan process — a precision molding method that produces closer tolerances and finer surface finishes than green sand technology. Versatile molding stations support flaskless molds across the full range of our furnace capabilities.

  • Casting weight: 1 to 1,500 lbs
  • Casting size: 4 to 60 inches
  • Process: No-bake furan (superior dimensional control and surface finish)
  • Alloys: Refer to Materials page for full alloy list
  • Short-run programs from prototype through repeat production

Investment Casting

Monett’s investment casting service produces near-net-shape components in complex geometries with tight dimensional tolerances — ideal for applications where machining cost reduction, thin walls, or intricate internal features are required.

  • Casting weight: 0.1 to 35 lbs
  • Casting size: 1 to 12 inches
  • Tolerances: as close as ±.010″
  • Alloys: Most steel, stainless steel, and nickel-based grades

In-House Capabilities

Engineering Support

Monett’s foundry engineers work directly with customers to optimize casting design for quality and cost. Full utilization of SolidWorks and SolidCast simulation software allows electronic delivery of drawing files, rigging design review, and solidification analysis before pattern investment is made — reducing risk and lead time on new programs.

  • Cast-to-fabrication conversion analysis
  • Solidification and rigging simulation
  • Electronic drawing file delivery
  • Non-metallic pattern options to reduce tooling cost

Pattern Shop

Monett’s pattern capabilities — combined with strong relationships with quality pattern facilities — provide maximum versatility and minimum lead times for new tooling. Tooling modifications, repairs, mounting, and rigging can be performed on site by trained Monett staff.

Heat Treating

Monett operates two programmable gas furnaces with water and oil quench capabilities, supporting a wide range of ASTM, military, and proprietary heat treatment specifications including normalize, anneal, and temper cycles. Skilled staff develop and execute both standard and customer-specified heat treating programs.

Machining

Complete machining services including CNC, milling, grinding, and polishing. Monett offers complete, partial, and locating surface machining — eliminating subsurface defect risk in subsequent customer operations and delivering a finished or semi-finished part ready for installation or further processing.

PED pressure equipment directive certified foundry

Quality Assurance

Monett’s quality systems are built around full material traceability, certified testing, and documented process control — meeting the requirements of ISO 9001 and PED certification.
